Art of the Lakes

We are pleased to present AOTL's Workshop Schedule for this coming season.  If you have any questions regarding the class, call the contact person.  Send registration information and fee to the contact person 
at least 2 weeks
before the class begins.  
Checks must be payable to Art of the Lakes.

You will receive a list of supplies needed, directions to the site and more information regarding the class.  Please pay the materials fees to the instructor.

 

 

Kaleidoscope of Color: 
Stained Glass

Class size 3-5 max. 

AOTL classroom. Students will make a copper foil window approximately 
10" x 16". Students will learn how to lay out pattern on glass, cut glass, copper foil each piece, soder them together, and finish it to hang in a window. 3 projects to choose from.

Clay Sculpture

Students will learn the elements of clay sculpture using a live model the first day. Then finish the piece, July 17, using patina techniques. Class size max.12. Held at Mary Williams home/garage, bring lunch. Cost for supplies $10.

Join us for this new exciting class. We will do quick sketches from a live model, learn to put the figure down as quickly as possible and capture the gesture.We will touch upon: how to incorporate people into your landscape paintings. This promises to be a fun day.  Held at Battle Lake High School Art Room.

Held at First Lutheran Church. 112 West Main St. Battle Lake, MN 56515. Come spend a day with one of West Central Minnesota's most famous artists, Charles Beck.  He will talk about his life, his career, show examples of his famous prints and carvings, and demonstrate procedures. Most people are curious about how he does his woodcuts - come and find out!  Start with morning coffee at 9:15a.m. There will be a 1 hour lunch break. Bring a brown bag or eat out in one of Battle Lake's restaurants. 

This is a free event sponsored by Art of the Lakes for the community.

 

 

Exploding Watercolor

Class size Max.16. Held in Battle Lake High School Art Room.  Work with Cal as he teaches you his unusual approach to watercolor. You will be painting directly from the watercolor tube, without palette. Mixing color directly on the paper, graying down then making a painting explode with color. Give life to the dullest landscapes or still life, exploding the myths and "rules" of watercolor.

Class size 16: For children age 6 - 11 who have finished 1st. grade - 5th. grade. Children will experience interesting, fun and expressive art projects while learning the elements and principles of design. Famous artists in art history will be tied into the lessons. Some projects will include print making, resist techniques, drawing, painting, mixed media, fiber arts and sculpture. Kids will be encouraged to dive in, get messy and leave with an art project each day. Held in Battle Lake High School Art Room.   Minimal supplies required.

Ways with Watercolor
