Mixed-Media Art Journal for Teens

Creative Arts Center Session I: Jan.2, 3:30-5:30 pm, Monoprinting on cloth and paper Session II: Jan. 4, 1-3 pm, Intro to Slow Stitching, Visible Mending Session III: Jan. 9, 3:30-5:30 pm, Collaging with stitching, glueing, stenciling, stamping, painting Session IV: Jan. 11, 1-3 pm, Embellishing and completing with beads, wire, ephemera $15./session or $50. for all 4 sessions Begin 2025 in a creative way by creating a beautiful art journal for yourself. We'll have fun painting, printing, stenciling, stamping and stitching with fiber and paper over a series of four sessions. The tactile experience of creating an art journal can be healing and meditative. It can also be a way to learn and expand creative thinking. These sessions are intended to be an introduction into this exciting contemporary art form and are designed as a series; however, students are welcome to register for single sessions. Ages 13+

Knitting Basics for Teens

Begins Friday, January 17, 10-12 pm Creative Arts Center $30 Knitting's not just for grandma's anymore. Ask Ryan, Meryl, & Julia. Knitting is one of the most popular ways to relieve stress and relax these days. You've likely seen a friend or two dabble in it on social media or an athlete at the olympics. Knitting's easy to get into too - just yarn, needles and a tutorial to get you started, although you would likely have a few misshapen creations at the beginning. The simple repetitive action of the craft can help calm the mind and give one a sense of purpose and accomplishment. This class will get you started using simple steps towards a completed scarf or cowl. All materials included in the fee. The 2nd two dates will be determined in class. Ages 13+ |
