Life Drawing

Paint a Barn Quilt

Guided instruction which will take you through the process as you tape, select colors, learn color placement, to create a barn quilt painting that looks professional. You will leave with your own 2ft x 2ft masterpiece ready for hanging outdoors or inside. High quality materials will ensure this conversation piece will last outdoors for many years to come and bring unequivocal admiration. Materials included for class: 2’ x 2’ Aluminum Composite. It is a premium grade material that professional sign makers use. It will never rust or rot. It is lightweight and easy to hang but very sturdy and great to work on. 80 plus fabulous paint colors to choose from. I use the highest quality Behr Marquee paint, 3M tape, aprons, hair dryers, and a dance-off for odd but awesome prizes. |

As native vegetation is replaced by roadways, manicured lawns, crops and non-native gardens, pollinators lose the food and nesting sites that are necessary for their survival. You don’t have to be a pollinator expert to save butterflies and bees. Join master gardener, Beth Harveaux, as she shares ideas and tips on how you can create and easily maintain a valuable and beautiful pollinator garden in your backyard. |
Swedish Dala Horse Woodcarving
Tuesdays, June 18 & 25
Time: 10 AM – 3 PM with a break for lunch (second class may be shorter) Location: Creative Arts Center, 112 Main St. W., Battle Lake, MN $65/60 Non-Members/Members (Adults Only) plus a $10 blank fee for materials paid directly to the instructor on the day of the class. This fee covers both classes. Have you always thought it would be fun to learn how to carve? This is the ideal class to try woodcarving for the first time! Learn to carve a traditional Swedish Dala horse with Alan Pearson from the Red River Valley Woodcarvers. This is a 2-part class: First, we will carve the horse, and second, we will paint it. This class will cover carving safety, tool selection, reading wood grains as well as different carving techniques. We will be using a carving knife and an optional #3 gouge. There will be safety equipment and tools available to borrow. |
