May 14: Rear Window is a 1954 American mystery thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The film stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, Thelma Ritter, and Raymond Burr. Rear Window is considered by many filmgoers, critics, and scholars to be one of Hitchcock's best, as well as one of the greatest films ever made. It received four Academy Award nominations.
June 11: Night of the Living Dead is a 1968 American independent horror film starring Duane Jones and Judith O'Dea. The story follows seven people trapped in a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, under assault by reanimated corpses. Although the flesh-eating monsters that appear in the film are referred to as "ghouls", they are credited with popularizing the modern portrayal of zombies in popular culture.
It eventually garnered a cult following and critical acclaim and has appeared on lists of the greatest and most influential films. Frequently identified as a touchstone in the development of the horror genre.
July 9: To Catch a Thief is a 1955 American romantic thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The film stars Cary Grant as a retired cat burglar who has to save his reformed reputation by catching an impostor preying on wealthy tourists (including an oil-rich widow and her daughter played by Grace Kelly) on the French Riviera.
August 13: Singin' in the Rain is a 1952 American musical romantic comedy film directed and choreographed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, starring Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds and featuring Jean Hagen, Millard Mitchell and Cyd Charisse. It offers a lighthearted depiction of Hollywood in the late 1920s, with the three stars portraying performers caught up in the transition from silent films to "talkies".
