Serving the needs of local working artists since 1967

Art of the Lakes was founded as an artist collaborative, and continues to lift up and encourage creative makers today. If you want to sell, exhibit, teach or grow as an artist, we've got you covered.

Art Sales

AOTL Members can display and sell original work year-round in our Gallery, the Creative Arts Center, the Good Samaritan Senior Living facility, and at special events. We charge a 30% commission for most sales, with some events carrying a lower commission.
  • Display artists must volunteer as a Gallery attendant four times per year, with training provided.
  • Display artists are eligible for Featured Artist promotions in the Gallery during the Spring, Summer and Fall months.

Events and Exhibitions
We plan, promote and manage several art events each year, mostly in the busy summer months. Display artists may exhibit and sell their work at these venues.
  • The AOTL Studio Tour is one of the largest rural art crawls in the Midwest, and a great way to meet art collectors face-to-face
  • The annual Art & Craft Affair gives you access to over 5,000 visitors
  • Our Prairie Lakes Plein Air festival is fast becoming a premiere destination for outdoor painters in the Upper Midwest
  • The Members' Juried Exhibition puts the spotlight on your talent
  • We sponsor a booth at the Phelps Mill Festival, a two-day art fair

Teaching Opportunities
If you're interested in teaching art skills to others, you've come to the right place. With the launch of the CAC, we now have dedicated space for a wide variety of workshops and classes, for kids to adults and beginners to professionals, and have greatly expanded our education promotion and programming.
