JURORS
This exhibition will be juried by Lori Charest and Tania Blanich.  

​Lori Charest graduated with her BFA from The University of North Dakota and apprenticed for two summers with area potters. From 1983-2003, Lori worked full-time selling her work through her shop, The Potter-Daughter on Otter Tail Lake and at regional art shows. In 2003 Charest started teaching Ceramics at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls and continues to teach there. She has also had exhibits at the college and the Kaddatz, Experimentations and Nine Ladies Dancing. Ms Charest has been curating art for M-State since 2017 and enjoys bringing different artists to the campus to display their work. 

Tania Blanich is Director of Operations at the Arts Partnership in Fargo/Moorhead. Tania has spent her career in arts, non-profit, philanthropic, and government administration. Blanich has advised non-profit organizations in the U.S. and abroad, served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, and been a reader for the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Residency Program in Italy, among other jury and panel service. Blanich earned her BA from the University of Michigan and her master’s degree from New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She is a native of Fargo, ND, where she grew up immersed in the arts.
Art of the Lakes is providing artists with the opportunity to display their work in the Charles Beck Gallery at M-State in Fergus Falls, MN. All members over the age of 18 are invited to submit up to two pieces of their artwork completed within the last 2 years and not previously exhibited in the Art of the Lakes gallery.

​A nonrefundable entry fee of $20. covers administrative costs and awards. 
Only work selected by the jurors from the entries will be displayed. Artwork accepted for the show will be judged for cash awards and featured on the AOTL website and through social media. Original work in all media is accepted including drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, glass, photography, fiber, jewelry, ceramic, and sculpture. Giclees and other reproductions are not eligible. ​AOTL retains a 30% commission on works sold. Work does not need to be for sale. All work will remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

IMPORTANT DATES
  • Registration Opens: Monday, July 11
  • Submission Deadline: Monday, August 15, 5 pm
  • Jurors Notification by email: Friday, August 22
  • Accepted Work Dropoff: Tuesday, September 6, 1-4pm at M-State. Artists with entries accepted that are unable to bring their entries to M-State at this time may bring them to the gallery, Thursday or Friday, Sept 1, 2, 10am-3pm. Note: AOTL will make every effort to deliver art carefully but does not assume any responsibility for damage during storage and transportation of work to M-State. 
  • Artist Reception & Awards Presentation: Thursday, October 6, 1-3 pm. Participating and non-exhibiting artists and their family and friends are cordially invited to attend the reception
  • Work Pickup: Thursday, October 27, 1-4pm at M-State. If artists are unable to pick up work at this time, arrangements can be made by calling the gallery.

PRESENTATION READY
2D WORK: All 2D work should be framed as needed and must include a securely attached wire for hanging. Size limit on 2D work is no larger than 4ft on any side. 3D WORK: All 3D work must be self-standing or fit on a 36 x 36 pedestal. No work can be suspended from the ceiling.

SUBMISSIONS
  • Entry information and a $20. payment can be made by registering below. You will be asked to provide a brief (1200 word limit) artist statement in a Word file.
  • Click on the button below to send us up to 2 high resolution images. Submit only .jpg files. IMPORTANT: Be sure to label your images 1_lastname.title.jpg.  Example: 1_johnson.purpleflowers.jpg, 2_johnson.willow.jpg. Files not labeled correctly will not be accepted. AOTL will use these images to promote the exhibit and your artwork on social media. 
  • Also include an image list of each piece you're submitting including the LxHxW, medium/s used, year created, and price/NFS information. Remember to include a 30% commission in your pricing. If you have questions contact Kristi at 612-940-5796.

LIABILITY
The gallery volunteers will take great care handling artworks for exhibition. However, AOTL is not responsible for any damage that may occur. We strongly recommend artists insure the works themselves.
