Plan an Art Vacation
​In Otter Tail County!

The weekend of July 14-15-16 would be a fantastic time for an "Art Vacation" in Otter Tail County!

• July 14 Art Class: Painting with a Prismatic Palette
  (Oil Plein Air with Jack Dant) at Glendalough State Park. Info and registration here
• July 15 Plein Air Paint Out:  Watch or join the artists painting the scenery around Glendalough State Park. Choose your own schedule! 
• July 16 Art Class: Painting with a Limited Palette 
  (Plein Air Oil with Matt Kania) at Glendalough State Park. Info and registration here.
• ​July 14-15-16 Studio Tour: Pick up a brochure from Art of the Lakes Gallery in downtown Battle Lake to guide you through 17 area studios featuring 38 artists. Info and online map here.

Original Painted Kites
​Take to The Sky
Saturday July 22, Noon-3pm

Paint-A-Kite was wildly successful - now it's time for our Kite Fun Fly!

Lots of creative kids, teens and adults painted original kite designs during June. They're scheduled to fly at Lion's Park during Wenonga Days! ​Bring the kite you painted, or one of your own!  Help create a colorful, beautiful sight Saturday, July 22nd from 12-3 at Lions Park.

Also, watch for information (coming soon) on how you can purchase a professionally painted kite!

• Phelps Mill Festival. Volunteers are needed for set up July 7, and take down July 9.
• Art & Craft Affair. Volunteers needed for set up August 11, and take down August 12. Help is also needed at the kid’s art booth.

Just a reminder for gallery display artists: please get your gallery shifts scheduled!

There are some urgent needs in July and August:

• July 7 Fri   3 pm to 9 pm
• July 8 Sat   10 am to 4 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm
• July 22 Sat   3 pm to 9 pm
• Aug 2 Wed   10 am to 5 pm
• Aug 12 Sat   3 pm to 9 pm

Diving Deep, Becky Albright

Grace Haverty at work sketching

Becky Albright is excited to share that one of her artworks was accepted in LRAC’s “Juried Exhibition - Brian Frink” exhibit! 

Diving Deep, a gyotaku fish print on Becky's hand dyed fabric, machine quilted and hand stitched, will be one of the wonderful artworks filling the LRAC Main Gallery July 5 to September 26. 

Admission is free. There will be a closing reception Tuesday, September 26, 5:30 - 7 PM. More information here.

Tom Dimock has ​a solo exhibit of nautical and woodland themed plein air paintings at the New York Mills Cultural Art Center for the month of July. He will give a demo and talk on July 7 during the Fish House Festival until about 3:30pm.

Grace Haverty is teaching a watercolor flower class at Art Of The Lakes August 1. Join the waitlist here.

Faythe Mills will be the featured artist at the Bremness Gallery in Glenwood, MN from July 17-29 for Waterama.

Sandra Shaughnessy has a current exhibition, "Reflections of our Journeys," at the Raymond Avenue Gallery in
St Paul, MN. A reception will be held Friday, July 21 from 2-4pm. Light refreshments served.

Mary Jo Wentz recently received an honorable mention for her fiber art, Sunflowers, Blue Sky, in the Annual Regional Adult Art Show at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. 

Mary Jo's fiber art, Campfire, has been juried into the Lake Region Arts Council Main Gallery Exhibit, Brian Fink - guest juror. The exhibit will be from July 5 - September 26, 2023.

Mary Williams is going to be on TV!  KSTP-TV in Minneapolis visited her and taped her studio, yard and the gallery. They also took pictures of Mary's Indian lady sculpture on West Battle Lake. The story will air on July 10 or 11 at 9:00 am.
