2021 Prairie Lakes en Plein Air
Minnesota Outdoor painters from around the state traveled to Battle Lake to discover and paint Otter Tail County scenes. Landmarks including Phelps Mill, Glendalough & Maplewood State Parks as well as Battle Lake itself were all featured.
We hosted five different Plein Air workshops lead by Lisa Stauffer, Dan Mondloch, Matt Kania, Scott Lloyd Anderson, and Grace Haverty in July & August under the tent in Battle Lake's Railroad Park. A wide range of techniques were demonstrated and tips were offered in oils, pastels, acrylics and watercolor to those who attended. The weekend of September 24 & 25, our summer celebration of outdoor painting concluded. It began with a catered Collector's Preview Reception where ticket holders got first view of all the competition entries. Saturday began with a morning Quick Paint where artists had 2-1/2 hours to capture sites along Lake Avenue in Battle Lake. That afternoon we capped everything off with the Award Ceremony in the gallery showcasing a variety of en Plein Air styles. Competition judge, Lisa Stauffer, awarded 11 awards worth over $2000. and gave Bridget Ertell the Best in Show Award. We want to congratulate all the artists who participated in this year's Prairie Lakes Plein Air event. We are thrilled and look forward to our second season in 2022. Please join us next year.

Not having traveled to this part of the state before now, I was blown away by its beauty! At every turn there were scenes I wanted to capture on my canvas”. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. I especially appreciated the homemade pastries you served us during the Quick Paint. Thank you! I'll definitely be back next year”. |
