Committee Updates
  • Art & Craft Affair:  53 registered.  Farmers Market would like more space.  It was recommended that a discussion with the city leadership be held.
  • Building/Roof:  no action.
  • Fundraising/Grants:
  • Sherry reported that 1st National Bank hosted a charity golf event of which the CAC will receive a donation.
  • Gallery:  no update
  • Marketing:  Flyers are ready for handouts and the Studio Tour brochure is released.   Plein Air and Kite flying event is being marketed online for this weekend. Need a flyer for the Baseball Tournament in Henning in August.  Each Battle Lake business will receive a letter to encourage them to enter the Milk Carton race for Wenonga Days.    Ann will attend the Network Battle Lake meeting to present the AOTL events.
  • Membership: gallery shifts are still open and need volunteers for several events.
  • Plein Air: 17 artists are registered. Opening day is Jun 17. The paint-out will be held on June 17 at AOTL gallery at 10:00 am.
  • Studio Tour:  July 14-15 with 38 artists, 17 studios. Brochures ready for handouts.  All registrants should pick up a lanyard and brochures to handout.
  • Workshops:   Kathrine provided an update on scheduled workshops through September.
  • CAC Programming:  Ann recommended the following potential events.
  • James Wedgewood, ventriloquist for a 45 performance in June to promote the CAC.  His fee is $1,000.
  • Paulette Friday, a professional storyteller was recommended for a September event.  Her fee is $4,000 and will apply for a grant to cover the expense.  She is also interested in doing a workshop for the youth.
  • Scheduled an Improv Show through July 17-20 during Wenonga Days.  Their fee is $500 plus mileage/meals.
  • Dave Crismon, Alexandria Theatre would bring in groups to perform Newsy in Battle Lake.  Transportation would be required.  Recommend having them during the August Arts and Craft Festival.
  • One week in theatre basics in early January for youth groups, using Dave Crismon, Alexandria Theatre basics.   Engage the staff from the school.
  • Culinary Classes:
  • Cupcake cooking class by Lauri Strom or someone local.
  • Brews and Q’s class on barbequing.
Old Business
  • Endowment/Legal Counsel:  Ann met with Edward Jones advisor Mackenzie Barry to set up an endowment investment account.  The 5.8% interest rate currently.  The Roger Parks donation is pending.
  • Ann Smith will contact the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (AOTL is a member) to request a referral for someone to provide legal counsel for non-profit organizations.

New Business

  • Bylaws Committee consisting of Ann H, Ann S, and Debbie Ness will review and update the bylaws.
  • Wenonga Days Parade:  recommend AOTL build their own milk carton boat for the race.   Mary Williams would like candy to distribute as she drives in the parade.
  • Need a worktable for the gallery.
