July 10: Flowers: Loose and Juicy

Picture

Grace Haverty (bio)

Students will be painting from fresh flowers that will be arranged into a still life. Grace will explain her process of deciding on how to set up the still life, demonstrate her method of putting expression into the piece and where the center of interest should be. Her hope is that you will share her excitement in the process of painting flowers.

July 24: Plein Air in Oils

Picture

Scott Lloyd Anderson (bio)

Scott will do a short demo describing how to start a painting in the field. All successful paintings begin with a good start. Emphasis will be on simplifying what we see, for as we know, it can be very chaotic out there. We’ll be using primary colors to appreciate how half the battle is on our palette. Scott hopes to impress attendees on how it's the scene's values that create the light effect, not color. We're in Minnesota after all. We're tonalists!

August 7: Expressive Watercolor

Picture

Dan Mondloch (bio)

In this casual and fun mini workshop, students will paint along as Dan demonstrates a simple step by step landscape painting in watercolor. The class is designed to provide value for the experienced artist and yet be welcoming and fun for the beginner. If you are a watercolor painter, bring whatever you typically use. There is no need to go out and buy all new materials. If you are interested in what I recommend - see attached materials list. For beginners, materials will be available to use for the workshop for a fee of $15.
